Hello friends, old and new!
Wow - where to begin. I guess from the beginning? That’s usually a good place. Some of you might remember when I published my first blog post in November of 2018 - almost four years ago! I had to go back and double check the date on that, because you could have told me I published my first post 10 years ago or last year and I would have believed you. But it has been in fact 4 years - which might not sound like a long time, but it’s crazy the amount one can endure + change over a few years in your 20s (or what some refer to as your ‘defining decade’). Add in a global wide pandemic, and you might just be a whole new person! Just kidding. I’m pretty much the same outgoing artist girl and always will be, but there are some exciting updates!
So let’s catch up, shall we? I’ve missed you.
Let’s see - it looks like my last blog post was around February 2020. So what’s changed since then? Well, a lot. But… for me, the biggest change happened when I married the love of my life! Wow, cheesy - right? I don’t care!!
For those of you who aren’t here for a full on romantic cheesy novel about how a young couple moved in together a month before the pandemic and ended up happily married - I’ll spare you some of the details. We moved in together February 2020, engaged October 2020, and married December 2021! For my fellow romantics who want more of the details, I’m thinking about doing a whole recap of our wedding around our 1 year anniversary!
But seriously, being married to Curtis is unreal. I’ve never met someone so unconditionally loving and supportive, and to be honest it’s truly hard to find the right words to describe it. All I know is that I feel so incredibly lucky, and I can’t believe this life is mine.
Now, onto art things!
Okay - so the pandemic was happening and my love life was thriving. It was a crazy, weird, scary, exciting, exhausting time. And while I know there were a ton of people who found their best creative selves during quarantine - I did not. I thought something was wrong with me and I wasn’t a true creative! I felt unstructured and uninspired. So, I got myself a new job. I was craving people and stability, and I took a job in marketing. I did that for about a year, learned a lot, but ultimately decided it wasn’t the right fit.

(official new name still pending, especially now that I'm a Madjeric!)
Since March 2022, I’ve felt like a totally new creative person. I’ve been having so much fun painting what I want to be painting. I’ve gotten really into abstracts, whimsy art, and painted champagne bottles. I’ve retired some old art, and I’m planning on opening up a new print shop this month! I have a lot of ideas going and I’m so excited to share them with you!
I also want to break into more of a lifestyle blog and share more of my life with you. And maybe some DIYs and Tutorials! I have so much fun writing and I hope some of you enjoy reading. It can be scary. Are blogs totally overdone? Who knows! I guess we will find out! This website was created because I love art, and I have always believed that life is art. I’m excited to share more of my life with you in this expressive form.
Oh, and I’m sure you’re wondering about Leo! He is THRIVING! He definitely loves that Curtis and I are both home now. He is the most spoiled, but he deserves it.
Wow, I could go on and on forever! But for this post, I just wanted to say hi and that I hope you’re doing well. And if you’re still reading, thank you so much. I’m sorry I went missing for 2.5 years, but it feels so good to be back. I’ll try to not do that again.
Now tell me, how are you? Are you new here? Welcome! An old friend? Welcome back! I hope you stick around. Let me know in the comments how you’re doing, and what you want to hear from me in the future :)
Cheers!
Rachel
