I'm Going Nomad & Here's Why!

I can’t believe it’s already November, but what I can’t believe more is that it’s my LAST FULL MONTH IN NASHVILLE! Actually, it’s my last full month (until who knows when) with an address.

That’s right, my friends - the journey continues as I prepare to fit basically everything I own into my mini cooper and say #PEACEOUT to Music City before the holidays. But where am I going?? Everywhere! Call it nomad, call it location independent, call it homeless - I don’t care, I’m just calling it another adventure!

It all started one night when I was having a glass (or 2) of cheap wine and exploring airbnb and thought ‘Hmm, my lease is up in May - maybe I’ll just try to live in Europe this summer.’ Before I knew it I was chatting with an awesome lady and booked her airbnb in Berlin, Germany for all of June. Why Berlin?? I literally researched (googled) “most creative cities” and it said Berlin. I can’t lie, this might be one of my more bold moves considering this small town girl has never actually left the country but I am so excited!! If anyone can teach me German that would be great - thanks.

From there I just started to work backwards and realized, why wait until June! This gap between now and Europe could be a great time to spend with family and explore. I found someone to take over my lease and I am (mostly) ready to hit the road! You can find me in Charleston, Pensacola, New Orleans, and Chicago over the next 6 months.

I am so grateful for this opportunity to spend more time with the ones I love (especially as my sister and brother-in-law welcome their first baby ahh!), connect with long distance friends, and just grow as a person and an artist. I have no idea how long this nomadic lifestyle will last, I guess until my heart tells me to stay in one place for awhile - but until then, the world is mine! *evil laughs*

Insert cheesy paragraph (you’ve been warned!): I just truly believe that this world is so beautiful and I can’t wait to spend the next several months seeing more of it. But mostly I’m just excited to meet more people, see new art, and feed off of ever changing energy. And you, reader, I just want you to remember how short this life is. I want you to know that materials are just that, materials. And if happiness to you is staying in one place and building a home, I think that’s awesome too!! Everyone’s adventure looks different and this is mine. I just want you to do what makes you happy.

I’ve told a good amount of friends about this new venture and have compiled a list of answers to the questions I get!

Fear not, my friends! Leo loves a good adventure and car ride. He will be coming with me everywhere except for this summer when he’ll stay at his grandma’s, which we are so grateful for! He also has his sweaters ready for Chicago!

What about your business?

If you know me - you know I’m spontaneous but also thoroughly think things through. I have spent the last 2 months ensuring that everything I do for my business can be done while I’m be-bopping around. The only thing that will change is that I will not be offering custom and original paintings during the summer of 2019, unless you’re in Europe! Digital sketches are always available!

What are you doing with your stuff?

Getting rid of it! Well, most of it. I have so much crap from like high school and I’m just ready for a fresh start. If you have any tips on purging, give em to me! And if you’re in Nashville and want stuff, contact me and please never-mind that crap comment. Of course I'll be bringing my travel mugs and paint brushes with me!

Aren’t you going to miss Nashville?

Yes of course! Well more than that, I’ll miss the amazing people I’ve met here. Through my old job, gym, and church I’ve made some really close friends. Lucky for me, they’ve been insanely supportive throughout this journey! Nashville is also a really good central point, so I plan on popping up when you least expect it!

Where do you think you’ll end up?

Truly, I have no idea. I can’t wait to re-read this one day and see where I do end up. I went to San Diego a few months ago and absolutely fell in love with Southern California, so maybe there! But also when I tell people I’m going to Europe their first response is usually “you’re never coming back” haha. Who knows! Maybe I’ll end up in like ...Figi? I don’t know, and I’ll have to discuss it with Leo.

Can I come visit you in Europe??

Uhhhh…. YES!!! I’ll be there and we can go venture everywhere together!

That’s all for now, friends! Keep on living your best lives!
