First Week In Pensacola!

Hey Hey Fam!

So if you’ve been following along for a little bit you know that I’ve ventured out on my nomadic journey! (read more about that here). I’ve been an official nomad for I don’t know, a week now, and even though I know that’s not a super long time - it’s BEEN A FREAKING BLAST.

Seville Quarter, Pensacola

I can’t sit here and lie - I had some low expectations for Pensacola. I don’t know why, I just felt like whenever I told people I was going there they were like oh… why? Like why not Destin? (If you don’t know - I’m living in Pensacola with one of my awesome friends. We met working at Disney World and she’s more of a free spirit than me and she’s amazing)

Anywho - so far Pensacola is low-key awesome. I say low-key because it’s not like Charleston or San Diego that have this huge rep for being amazing. Pensacola is just.. more chill I guess? And super easy to make friends. We ran this 5k last night and ended up staying out wayyy later than planned just because it was a jolly good ole time. Also - since it’s not like this destination city the drinks are so cheap. So basically - it’s great weather, nice people, lots of military, roommates making homemade sushi (with a tuna they caught deep-sea fishing what!!), cheap drinks, and a big backyard for Leo to run around in. So basically NO COMPLAINTS. I LOVE IT. Except for one of our neighbors has a rooster - that’s kinda weird. But hey, it’s Florida. I also saw a homeless man with a sign that says “HELP I’M UGLY”. But again, Florida.

Work wise it’s been awesome too. I’m getting ready to launch almost 100 (ONE HUNDRED) new products tomorrow and I’m pumped. I also made some connections before moving down here to paint some murals - DOUBLE PUMPED. More on all of that to come, but here's a sneak peak at products coming tomorrow:

Of course, because I’m me, the first week of nomadicness has not come without it’s own adventures. Day 2 in Pensacola and I lost my wallet. Which really sucked, because I was like how am I going to get my ID replaced when I don’t have a home? I’ve never lost my wallet before. And no no, I didn’t lose it because I was out being wild - I literally remember going to a Starbucks to work, washing my hands, and leaving it between the sink and the faucet. So that night I went out for my friends birthday (with my passport like a savage) and thought long and hard about how to fix this conundrum. Then it hit me - was I even calling the right Starbucks?? That’s the thing about living in a new city, you just like don’t know all the things - like where all the Starbucks are - and you end up calling the wrong one three times before realizing you actually went to the one on the same street but half a mile down. Also, if Dalton from a Pensacola Starbucks is reading this, I’m sorry for calling you so many times - thanks for listening to me. You were very patient and kind, and I feel like I need to call back to tell you I found it.

So there we have it! My first 5 days in Pensacola. Wow, I can’t believe it’s only been 5 days, I feel like SO much has happened. I can’t wait to turn all of this energy into some paintings! Also - if you have any Pensacola or Panhandle suggestions, I’m all ears!!

Thanks for following along!

With love,

Rachel
