A Fresh Start to 2023

Good morning friends!!

I hope your 2023 is off to a fabulous start! Curtis and I had a great time ringing in the new year in Michigan, and now we’re back in Chicago getting our lives back together for all that is to come over the next few months :)

we went to a workout class and came back to Leo being dressed up for the holidays - haha! ready to party!

What better way to start the new year than to announce that I have rented a studio space for the next month! For those of you who don’t know, I currently paint, print, and ship all out of a little corner in our living room. And while I’m super grateful to even have that space, I was a bit worried about the close quarter situation especially during the winter months. It can already be a little tricky to find inspiration in your living room, and when you add in a Chicago winter - I was worried it might be hard to even get out of bed, ha!

Enter: Britni Mara’s Studio! Britni is an amazing abstract artist based in Chicago, and we have followed each other on instagram for quite some time now. I have always admired her work! A few months ago, she posted on her story that she would be spending some of the winter in Nevada and was wondering if anyone would be interested in renting her studio. I immediately jumped on it! She has a beautiful, sun-lit studio just a 15 minute drive from our apartment.

photo of Britni's studio - peep her cute dog, Murphy!

I have always toyed with the idea of renting a studio, so I really think this will be such a great trial to see if I like not working from home. I’m so glad it could work out for the both of us! I am moving into the studio today and tomorrow, and am so excited to get to painting.

As for new artwork to come - to be honest, my brain is all over the place. I have a lot of ideas in my mind right now that I can’t wait to get out on canvas. Some of it may look familiar, and some might seem brand new - but either way, I hope you stick around! I am grateful to be doing something that is forever evolving, and I am so looking forward to all that 2023 has to offer.

Cheers! Rachel
